C7-WA Successfully completed!

The administrative activities of the C7-WA project (Coping with Climate Change as a Cause of Conflict in Coastal Communities of West Africa), led by the International Maritime Safety Security and Environment Academy (IMSSEA) in partnership with Open Plan Consulting, AAPW, HOMEF and WANEP, are coming to its administrative end.

The project has provided coastal communities in the Niger River Delta in Nigeria with tools to improve their resilience to climate change – which leads to coastal erosion, pollution from oil extraction, destruction of mangrove forests and depletion of fish stocks – as well as conflicts. A grant scheme subsidised 12 communities to implement local development projects.

It was a great experience in Nigeria, involving wonderful people, the development of high-level skills, as well as the creation of concrete infrastructure for the benefit of local communities. This is another international success for Open Plan Consulting, strengthening our historic ties with Africa. Thank you to all our partners and the communities that participated in the project!
